Discover a simple way to keep your grips dry

I personally try every product that appears on this blog and write honest reviews based upon my experiences, with feedback at times from fellow golfers as well. This is one of those times when I say to myself, “Why didn’t I think of that?”. This posting’s featured product is so simple . . . and it works!

The product is Grip-Dry, and for anyone who plays when it’s wet out, or in the mornings when there is dew on the greens or fairways, this product is the answer to keeping your grips dry. The company offers 2 sizes; the “Standard” and the larger “Big Daddy”. . The Standard is approximately 3 inches tall and the Big Daddy is about 4 inches tall. Both operate under the same premise which is that the product keeps your club raised up and off the ground.

I took both sizes of the Grip-Dry and tried them each on a putter and a wedge. This test was conducted on a wet day.. I’ve included several pictures to show the results. To sum it up, I would certainly feel better using the larger “Big Daddy” Drip Dry as it definitely kept my clubs higher off the ground in all the areas that you would normally place golf clubs on the ground. I would add that when I placed my clubs in deep rough, neither sizes kept the clubs high enough to keep the grips from getting wet However, in shorter rough, , the fairway and on the green, both did work, but the “Big Daddy” performed best at the higher level and I felt more comfortable using it.

The company suggests keeping the Grip-Dry in your back pocket, which would be fine when walking on the course, but as soon as you get back into the golf cart, I believe there’s a chance that they may crack or break. Therefore, I would recommend keeping your Grip-Dry in your front pocket when in the golf cart. Grip-Drys are not flimsy, but they are made from plastic and I didn’t want to take a chance of breaking one, so I did not do a “pocket” test.

The Company states this…
Before placing or dropping your extra club on the ground, either snap the GRIP-DRY® on the shaft under the grip, or place it lower on the shaft and slide it upwards until snug.
A product that is so easy to use…and has so many benefits… and a FREE ball maker!
• Protects your grips by keeping them elevated from the wet grass, sand and toxic fertilizers
• Keeps your clubs in plain view to eliminate lost wedges that may otherwise get left behind on or around the greens. It’s your “no club left behind tool”.
• Saves your back & knees! No more bending over to push a tee into the ground or pick up your second club. Simply hook another club under the elevated grip…and lift.
• Fits in your pocket and/or attaches to your golf cart
• Made from durable impact grade plastic
• Great golf outing and promotional gift giving

The company website is www.gripdry.com and the retail price for the stand is $3.95 and for the “Big Daddy” the retail price is $12.95. The company also offers customization of both sizes with a 100 order minimum.

Bottom line, Grip-Dry works! I found that the “Big Daddy” in most conditions (except deep rough), and the smaller Grip-Dry seems to work best in very short rough or on the putting green. I know when I am playing in the mornings, or when it’s damp out, I’ll be using a Grip-Dry for sure. Again, I wish I’d thought of this idea, as it’s so simple, yet very effective.
