Although I used to drink Gatorade on the golf course to stay hydrated, I found it to be too sugary and decided last year to change to just plain water. The only issue I have with water is that there is no taste and it doesn’t add needed electrolytes. When playing in really hot and humid conditions, you definitely need to replenish your electrolytes to stay hydrated, focused and energized.
After doing research, I found a company that I believe solves these issues. The company is called Nuun. Their hydration electrolyte product is a tablet (similar to an Alka Seltzer tablet) that you drop into any bottle or cup of water. After a few seconds of shaking the ingredient, the water color changes to whatever color/flavor the tablet is.
I ordered several flavors, as the company offers 13 different flavors, ranging from grape, fruit punch, mango orange, cherry, lime-aid and many more. Four of their flavors have caffeine added to them for the times that you may want an added “boost”.
I tried the grape flavor which was enjoyable as it had a light grape taste and was not too sweet. I definitely preferred Nuun’s grape flavor over my basic water and I felt great throughout my round of golf. I then tried Nuun’s fresh lime flavor which included caffeine. I liked the taste as well and enjoyed that fact that it lacked the sweetness of Gatorade. I couldn’t tell if the added caffeine gave me any type of boost, however I felt great throughout the entire round.
