What’s a unique way to mark your golf ball?

Marking a golf ball is definitely a good idea. So many people play the same ball, and without any special markings, there is no way to identify your ball, as opposed to someone else’s in your group, who just happens to be playing the same ball.

Playing the exact same golf ball happens more than people think, and that’s why you see tour professionals always mark their golf balls with something that specifically identifies their golf ball. The last thing anyone wants is a penalty for playing the wrong ball. It’s so easy to mark your own balls, there’s really no reason not to do it.

For many years, I’ve used a purple sharpie to draw a straight line on the balls, being sure to avoid writing over words or numbers. I also used this mark to line up my putt, so it had a dual purpose, which I liked. Since no one else used a purple sharpie, I was confident that my golf ball would not get confused with anyone else’s. Then it happened, 2 balls in the fairway, both with what appeared to be purple straight lines on them! I looked and couldn’t tell which golf ball was mine.

I knew there had to be a better way to mark my golf ball, so after scouring the world-wide web, I came across a site that s sells golf ball stampers. Myballstamp.com sells four different models, ranging in price from $14.95 to $89.00. The difference between the two cheaper stamps, and the two more expensive stamps, is the size of the imprint. The two less expensive stamps have an imprint size of about .5” diameter. The 2 more expensive stamps had an imprint size of about .85” diameter. I decided to get buy the two less expensive stamps – the EZ Ball Stamp for $14.95 and the My Ball Stamp for $22.95. I see these two models as being the more affordable options.

There are a few differences between the two stamps that I purchased. The My Ball Stamp had a slightly (.1”) larger imprint area than the EZ Ball Stamp, which really is a tiny difference (pictures are below). In addition, the My Ball Stamp option allows you to choose one of the many company’s designs, or you may upload your own design, to be used alone or with text. The My Ball Stamp also has five colors of ink to choose from.

The EX Ball Stamp is the least expensive, and has approximately 35 stock designs to choose from. You can not upload your own image or design for this stamp. In addition, the EZ Ball Stamp does not allow for any text to be included, which is a real downgrade from the My Ball Stamp. The EZ Ball Stamp color choices are limited to red or blue.

My personal preference was the My Golf Stamp, as I wanted to use the color purple, which was available with this model, along with the slightly larger imprint size. I posted pictures below of each stamp and the how the designs looked on a golf ball. The purple ink money bag design is the My Ball Stamp and the blue ink money bag design is the EZ Ball Stamp.

The website for the ball stamp company is www.myballstamp.com and you can get exact information on imprint size, colors, and all options available.

Bottom line, you definitely should mark your balls. Whether you decide to get creative and spend a few dollars using stamps like the ones that were just featured, or simply put a few dots on your balls, just do it.
