I have had the same Callaway wedges for about 3 years now, and besides cleaning with a brush and towel, having never really thought about the grooves. I thought using a metal brush would keep them in good shape, but I’ve learned that they may get clean, the grooves are not nearly as good as when I purchased the wedges.
After doing research, I found a tool that can bring my grooves on my clubs back to their original condition. I am hoping this will bring back some of that spin I feel I’ve lost of the years. I used the GrooVex on an old wedge to test it, and I didn’t want to ruin my everyday wedge just in case. The grooves became clean and looked almost brand new, it was amazing.

The next few weeks, I could teel I was getting more back spin on my wedge shots and they were also stopping closer and not running out nearly as far as before. I was very happy and my short game was better than it has een in years.
Bottom line, the GrooVex sharpening tool does an excellent job. You must take your time and be careful using it, however it works and can add years to your old clubs. I have since used it on my irons which are about a year old, and will continue using to to clean my grooves and sharpen them on a regular basis.
