The Most Unique and Amazing Putter Grip.

bjm putter grips

I have tried and reviewed many different putter grips over the years. As an avid golfer I know how important putting is to your score, so I changed putters and grips many times. I’m sure my putter and grip collection are more than most, so when I learn about a new putter grip I’ve never heard of or seen before, I have to try it.

The company is BJM Putter Grips, and their grips are unlike anything you have seen before. BJM is a small innovative company that uses golf swing biomechanics to investigate what – why – when we do things in a golf swing and do our best to deliver a filtered simplified message to our followers and athletes.

Here is some info from the company regarding their very unique grips….

If you look at the way we should hold a putter then it sort of makes sense to make the putter grips larger, fatter and with a shape that allows the palms of the hands to turn comfortably up or palms under the bottom of the grip. How we connect the hands becomes obsolete simply because we have reduced the mobility of the joints in the hands and arms by turning the palms up.

Turning the palms up has a major chain reaction on the way the arms sit into the body also, in fact the way we hold the putter creates a chain reaction for the way the body moves the putter head and putter face through space.

Palms Up – The revolutionary new putting system to help you make more putts.
By turning both palms up we reduce the mobility in the joints of the hands and arms thus resulting in:

  • Reduced involuntary, unwanted movement in the putter head
  • More consistent putter arc and stroke length
  • Reduced face rotation and variations between the rear and target swing
  • Increased sweet spot contact point
  • Help overcoming physiological glitches aka “The YIPS”

I have been using the Dark Blue silicon/chamois “Kotahi” Putter Grip. It is a larger size grip comparable to a SuperStroke 3.0. However, it is not round; the Kotahi putter grip forces you to have your palms facing up. Your hands are not or the side of the grip facing each other which at first feels a little strange, however, after a few minutes it becomes a more natural feel.

I immediately went to the putter green to test the BJM Kotahi putter grip. I sank my second putt from about 20 feet. I practiced for about 15 minutes and was very impressed and surprised how well I was putting. I then took it to the golf course. I was putting excellent over the first 9 holes, then going to the back now with confidence in the BJM putter grip, I made 2 putts over 15 feet, and did not have a 3 putt. I actually had only 15 putts on the back side which for my game was very good.

I have since used the BJM Kotahi putter grip over a dozen rounds of golf. I can say without any hesitation my putting has improved. My first putts are ending up much closer to the hole, I am making more one putts, and my putting overall has definitely improved. The BJM Kotaki putter grip is unique, different feeling, and a winner.

If you have any issue with putting the BJM Kotahi putter grip may be the answer. I know it has helped me become a better putter and get the first putt closer to the hole almost every time. From shorts putts to long putts, the BJM Kotahi has done a great job.
