How important is a golf tee? With the majority of golf tees made from wood, and more recently plastic, so they don’t break nearly as fast as a wood tee, are there other options that last long and may even help you gain a few extra yards off the tee.
I‘ve reviewed numerous golf tees over the years. I’m always looking for something that can help me gain a few extra yards, hit the ball straighter or even just give me a bit more confidence on the golf course.
Well, I found a really unique golf tee unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. It’s called the Tornado golf tee. The Tornado golf tee is designed to reduce friction and the drag effect golf tees on the golf ball flight. According to Tornado Tee they were able to accomplish this by greatly reducing the mass and resistance of the Tornado Tee in the impact zone. They replaced a rigid crown with a woven, flexible, light mono-filament structure ( really different from anything else I’ve ever seen). Also the Tornado Tee offers a more consistent spin rate from tee box to tee box with the use of our Tornado Tee. This is because the woven crown acts as a shock absorber, eliminating the tee box soil conditions as a factor.
I took the Tornado Tee to the range as it is really unique to just get a feel for it, as I try to do with all new products I review, as sometimes you just want to do a pre-test before just diving in to using something new and unique. Time to take the Tornado Tee to the golf course for the real test. I hit my driver on about 12 holes at my home course, so I tested the Tornado Tee for 3 rounds and hit 36 drives with it. The Tornado Tee looked exactly the same after 36 drives as it did out of the package. As far as added distance, I would estimate I was averaging maybe a few extra yards of distance (3-7 yards) with the Tornado Tee, and slightly straighter drives. Overall, the Tornado Tee performed very well, and using the same golf tee for almost unlimited rounds is a confidence builder, as well as, less stuff you need in your pocket and in your golf bag!
