I know I am always tinkering with my grip to find something that helps me hit the ball a little straighter. I’ve tried a few of those training grips that are available at my local golf retail store, but it feels very un-natural and it just didn’t work for me.
A golf friend of mine was on Instagram and he sent me this page he found that he thought I would be interested in and without a doubt I was. It was for a little training aid that just looks so simple that there is no way it works, so I had to get one and give it a try.
It’s called GolfTGrip and it’s pretty unique to say the least. It is made of rubber and you simply place the device between your ring finger and your middle finger and take your normal grip and it’s supposed to make you hit longer and straighter shots. The GolfTGrip works on either hand and comes in two sizes, S/M and L/XL.
I took the GolfTGrip over to my golf friends house who has a SkyTrak and we both used a 7 iron to test the GolfTGrip out. We each hit about a dozen golf balls without the GolfTGrip, then with used the GolfTGrip and hit another dozen shots. My golf friend is a 7 handicap and I’m a 12. He swings at over 100mph and I swing in the 70’s, so I feel this was a really good test for lower and middle handicap golfers.
The results were similar; we both hit our golf ball straighter using the GolfTGrip and our shots were on average 3-10 yards closer to the center line. As far as distance, my friend was 5 yards longer on average and I was on average 9 yards longer. Bottom line… the GolfTGrip works and is a very good training aid for your grip with the 2 main benefits being straighter and longer golf shots. The key with any training aid is practicing with it. If you stick with it, the results will show up on the golf course, just don’t use it once and think your issue is fixed, it takes repetition and a good training aid like the GolfTGrip will help you improve.
