I’ve been playing with Callaway PM grind wedges for about 3 years, since I saw Phil using them on tour, and I must say I play really well with them. However, I’m always searching for something that works better, whether it’s easier bunker shots, getting the golf ball to check up quicker, or less chunks and skulls.
I noticed a really unique looking golf wedge on Instagram and had to give it a try, as it truly looks like no other wedge. Unlike other golf wedges this wedge has a crescent shape sole and a symmetrical face, which allows you to visualize great alignment. I’ve included pictures below, it’s really unique.
Time to test out the golf wedge which is made by Cutter Golf. I initially went to our short game area for about 20 minutes to get a quick feel for it. My test included using the Cutter Golf 56 degree wedge for 6 rounds of golf. I actually took my 2 Callaway PM grind wedges out of the bag for the test.
I can honestly say the Cutter Golf wedge performed extraordinarily well. My wedge shots would check up much quicker and stopped closer to the hole, which I’ve never been able to do this well before. Usually my shots tend to run out more than I would like, but not with the Cutter wedge. The Cutter Golf wedge also blasted through the sand in the bunkers with ease, and I never chunked one ball.
Overall, the Cutter Golf wedge was excellent. The wedge did feel slightly heavier than my current wedge, but that just took a little bit of time to get used to. I am not sure if it’s the wedge’s face with all the grooves in it, the crescent shaped sole, or the much larger sweet spot due to having 66% less leading edge; however Cutter Golf did it, and the Cutter Golf wedge works!
